FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What are your hours?
-
I am generally available for sessions Tuesday through Saturday, by appointment only. When sessions involve children who still take naps, we carefully factor that into our timing. Evening appointments are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- What happens next?

If you think I may be the portrait photographer for you, the next step is to get to know each other a bit more. Ideally, I'd like you to come by the studio so we can sit down for a while. I'm hoping you'll gush about your family and tell me a bit about each person I'll be meeting. I'll clue you in about how I think the session will go--but of course, every session is a bit different. I think you will find me quite adaptable to the particular circumstances of your session.
- What payment options do you accept?
-
I accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex. Checks are fine, too. And I've also added Venmo and Zelle. Oh, and cash works, too (but I still remit the sales tax!).
Your session fee is required at the time we book your session. If you need to reschedule or cancel your session, please try and give me two to three days' notice.
- How does this work?
-
There are three essential stages, numbered in order of importance:
1. Getting to know you: In this step, we will chat about your family. I hope to learn about what makes each person unique, their interests, and how they interact with each other. You'll give me a heads-up if there are any special circumstances that I should be aware of. We'll also cover your most important goals, or outcomes, of the session. We will also talk about where in your home you plan on displaying your portraits
2. The portrait session: The session usually proceeds organically, but I make sure to capture all the groupings we chatted about. It's best not to bring any "spectators." I usually guide those not in a particular shot to sit off to the side and not watch the person being photographed. This makes for a more relaxed session.
3. Selecting your portraits: The most fun part. We will schedule a time for the decision makers to return to the studio where I will present the images to you. Together, we will be making your final selections at this meeting. With my help, and our selection software, you will be able to finalize your order at this meeting.
- What about digital files?
-
While our specialty is the fine-art printed portrait (designed to retain its vibrance for many generations), we do know that people love sharing our images and having access to them on a mobile device. Not to worry--for each image you select for printing we also include a digital version.
